Big announcement: Katie Price told her Twitter followers today that she is withdrawing her children from the public eye
She has never had a problem enlisting her children to appear in magazine shoots, her numerous reality shows or to help promote products like her equestrian clothing line.
But Katie Price appears to have had a huge change of heart, and says she wants to 'withdraw them from the public eye.'
The model made the shock announcement this afternoon on her Twitter account, declaring: 'Start filming for my new reality show this week Junior and Princess won't be in any of my shows or any photo shoots again.'
She then gave the reason behind the decision: 'I want to withdraw them from the public eye as I want them to have as normal a childhood as possible and want them to choose what they want.'
Price only mentions two of her children, Junior, five, and Princess Tiaamii, three - her children to Peter Andre.
Her eldest Harvey, eight, whose father is footballer Dwight Yorke, does not appear to be included in the ban.
Change of heart: The model has been happy to feature her children in her reality shows and to help promote her products for years
Interestingly, Katie's announcement comes just days after ITV2 began showing advertisements for Peter Andre's series The Next Chapter.
Junior and Princess feature heavily in the trailers.
Katie moved from ITV2 to Living TV, which will screen her next reality series.
Her vow was met by some cynicism from some fans on the social networking site.
One follower replied to Katie's message asking, 'It's a bit late for that isn't it!' to which the star responded. 'It's not to late nothings to late' [sic].
Follw my lead, Pete! Katie says she 'hopes' will her ex Peter Andre will do the same, but currently there are no plans from his camp
Price hinted earlier this month that her children were unhappy with the attention they receive thanks to their involvement in their parents' projects.
She told The Alan Titchmarsh Show: 'I've not done a photoshoot with the kids in over a year. I don't want them in front of the camera now if it's not their choice.'
Price told Titchmarsh that Junior's classmates 'take the mick' out of him after seeing him in magazines and on television.
Katie says she wants Peter to follow her lead, telling a follower who questioned if 'Pete would do the same,' - 'I hope so.'
Price's spokesperson confirmed her plans to withdraw her children from the limelight, telling the MailOnline: 'I believe Junior and Princess are now of an age where they are starting to become aware of the attention they are subject to and it is beginning to impact on them.
'If their lives remain in the public eye they could become the subject of unnecessary interest and attention of many other pupils, their families, strangers and so on.
'I don't want that. Its not healthy for them. I want them to live normal and ordinary lives as privately as possible, to enjoy their childhood without unnecessary and unwelcome attention, as far away as can be from public fuss and interest. There are too, of course, security implications.
'Therefore I cannot justify to myself putting my children into the public domain to make my photo-shoots and TV programmes more attractive and more valuable when it is starting to impact on their ability to grow up normally. I have to put my children first and I hope people will accept this decision on that basis.'
But insiders close to Andre told the Mail Online that the 37-year-old currently has no plans to do so, unless he felt the children had become unhappy with the situation.
'Pete's kids are the most important thing in the world to him,' the source said. 'If they told him they were unhappy he would of course reconsider.
'But for now there are no plans to change.'
