Maternal instinct: Kate Hudson couldn't help but coo over her ex-husband's daughter with his new wife as the extended family watched son Ryder at a baseball game
Her first son Ryder was born in 2004 so it’s been a few years since Kate Hudson has been mothering a baby or toddler.
But the pregnant actress was able to get plenty of practice playing with her ex-husbands daughter yesterday.
Kate and her ex-husband Chris Robinson were watching their son Ryder in his little league baseball game in Malibu when the pregnant actress couldn’t help but coo over little Cheyenne, Chris’ daughter with her new wife Alison Bridges.
One big happy family: Kate Hudson was joined by her ex-husband Chris Robinson and his wife Alison at her son's game. Kate seemed taken with Chri's daughter Cheyenne
There didn’t appear to be any awkwardness between the extended patchwork family as they cheered on Ryder from the sidelines.
In fact Kate seemed more than happy to coo over the adorable little girl who was dressed in a warm pink tracksuit with a sheepskin fleece gilet.
Kate and Chris divorced in 2007 citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ ending their six year marriage.
Comfortable: Kate and ex-husband Chris and his wife Alison seemed happy in each others company and watched the game together before Kate went in for a closer look
But the actress appeared to be quite comfortable in the company of her ex-husband and proudly showed off her growing baby bump clearly visible under her baggy printed T-shirt.
After spending time with Chris and Alison Kate couldn’t help but make her way closer to the game to give Ryder some vocal pointers on his game.
The actress was extremely animated as she watched on from the sidelines with the group.
Good advice: Kate cheered on Ryder from the sidelines and shouted some advice to him and his teammates
Dressed for the occasion: The actress looked casual in jeans, a print T-shirt and a woolly cardigan
Earlier in the week Kate was joined by boyfriend Matt Bellamy and Ryder as they took to the stand at the American Idol show.
But their VIP status didn’t help them in the seating department as they were placed on the back row.
The show’s host Ryan Seacrest joked: ‘He joked from the stage: 'I got to get you better seats. I feel bad you are way up there.'
Suited and booted: Seen here with son Ryder, far right, and a friend after the match
