United front: The Only Way Is Essex stars Mark Wright and Lucy Mecklenburgh smile as they promote Chelmsford City's FA Cup match

The Only Way Is Essex is undoubtedly one of the runaway television successes of the past year.

And while viewers have been captivated by the day-to-day lives of the cream of Essex, it was the love triangle between Mark Wright, Lauren Goodger and Lucy Mecklenburgh which caused the most debate.

But yesterday Mark suggested maybe he has made his decision once and for all as he put on a united front with Lucy as they promoted Chelmsford City's FA Cup battle this weekend.

Despite Mark admitting he is still in love with Lauren, he has continued to see Lucy, who he began dating during the first series of the ITV2 show.

In the series finale of the programme, Lucy was seen bursting into tears after she confronted Lauren over rumours she and Mark were still sleeping together.

But it seems the teenager has quickly got over her emotional angst, and despite Mark telling her they would just see how things go, Lucy looked every inch the proud girlfriend as she posed with her beau yesterday.

What will Lauren say? It remains to be seen how the love triangle between the pair and Mark's ex Lauren Goodger will play out in the show's Christmas special

And it remains to be seen what will happen with Mark and Lucy's relationship in the Christmas special of the show, when Lauren will make a decision on whether or not she should take up a job opportunity in Dubai.

Yesterday Lucy and Mark joined forces as they donned official Chelmsford City strip to promoted the team's FA Cup match against the Wycombe Wanderers later today.

Speaking about the match, former Tottenham youth team captain Mark, 23, said: 'This weekend’s clash with Wycombe is like a cup final for Chelmsford. It’s great to see one of my local Essex sides doing so well in this season’s competition and I just hope the boys can pull off a shock.

'I’d love to see them in the hat for the 3rd round draw on Sunday, it would be a dream to see them take on Scunthorpe United, the team my brother Josh plays for. Come on the Clarets!'

Coverage of the 2nd Round of The FA Cup will be shown today with all the live action from Kingsmeadow as League 2 Stevenage travel to AFC Wimbledon (ITV 1, kick off at 12:50).
