Something in your eye? Colin Firth wiped away a tear after paying tribute to his wife as he received his Walk of Fame star - and then blamed the wind

Thankfully life doesn't imitate art for Colin Firth, who had trouble holding back the tears as he paid tribute to his wife while receiving his Hollywood Walk of Fame star yesterday.
However, after he thanked Livia Giuggioli and dedicated his star to her, he quickly killed the romantic notion by blaming the tears on the wind.
The 50-year-old actor was today awarded the Walk of Fame's 2,429th star on Hollywood Boulevard and he sealed the honour with a kiss from his wife, Italian producer Livia Giuggioli.
He then became teary-eyed as he gave a short speech in which he paid tribute to Italian-born Livia.
He said: 'I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine Livia who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and truthfully.
'When I look down there at that star, it's her name I see.'

But afterwards, he blamed the tears on the elements and said: 'You can make of it what you will, it was the wind.'
But then he laughed and added: 'Yes, inside I was a seething torrent of emotion.'
The couple have two sons together and the actor also has a son from a previous relationship with actress Meg Tilly.
He sealed today's honour with a kiss from his beautiful wife and made the onlooking crowd laugh when he noticed his star was next to Emma Thompson's.

He said: That’s almost as good as the thing itself. I have a feeling I’m going to be here when I’m about 93 asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I’m the guy whose name is on the sidewalk — failing to recognise that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson.'
The 50-year-old actor is expected to collect a Golden Globe at the weekend for his portrayal of a stammering George VI in The King’s Speech.

He is also nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Broadcast Film Critics Association Award.
Adding to his list of honours, last weekend he won his first major award in what's expected to be a taste of things to come.
He was presented with the Actor Achievement Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival by Dame Helen Mirren, who won an Oscar playing the Queen, King George’s daughter.
She joked: ‘Actually, I am not the Queen and neither is Colin the King.’
Firth is also expected to receive an Oscar nomination, which will be announced on January 25.
He is next expected to appear in the film adaptation of John le Carre's spy novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
